We are very proud to announce that we have been chosen by New Whole Earth LLC to take over the design and development of WholeEarth.com. Whole Earth Catalog, from which the website was born, was started in the late '60s by Stewart Brand. In many ways, Whole Earth Catalog was a print-based forerunner to Google, and was mentioned as such by Steve Jobs in his 1995 commencement speach at Stanford University. Jobs said, "When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation... It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions." The new version of WholeEarth.com will launch in January of 2008.
